Tierra, the band named "Best R&B Vocal Group" by four leading magazines including Billboard. They started their career in East Los Angeles with a blend of rock, pop, jazz, R&B and salsa. The result was a Latin R&B rhythm which produced classics like "Together", "Gonna Find Her", "Memories" and "Zoot Suit Boogie". The band's quarter century commitment shows a dedication that can only be understood by listening to their smooth and soulful sounds.
Tierra was the first Latino band to have four songs on the national chart and two simultaneously in the Top 100. They have performed in such prestigious shows such as Carnegie Hall, The American Music Awards, American Bandstand, and The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Tierra is widely known to have played a role in opening doors for other Latino and non-Latino superstars of today, including comedian Paul Rodriguez, Arsenio Hall, Sheila E., Gloria Estefan, Los Lobos, Latino Comic of the Year, Rudy Moreno, and more.
Leader of the band, Rudy Salas holds the foundation of the group strong as he leads TIERRA into the new millenium. With their new CD, "Welcome to Cafe East L.A.", a billingual album “Two Worlds/Dos Mundos”, and a recently released Greatest Hits album, this is one band that will not stop!

About Sonora Carruseles:
With nine albums to its credit and more than twelve years of existence, Colombia's Sonora Carruseles has perfected a trademark sound that is cherished by salsa lovers all over the world. There's some seriously powerful stuff in their music: spidery piano lines, tight polyrhythms, explosive riffs, staccato cowbell patterns, impossibly nasal choruses that is just too hard to resist. Sonora Carruseles pays a moving tribute to the spirit of old, hardcore salsa with while at the same time revamping the nearly forgotten classical style.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Manhattan Transfer, David Sanborn, Zakir Hussain, Les McCann, James Hunter, John Densmore's Tribaljazz, Yosvany Terry, Christian Scott, Javon Jackson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Bill Holman Band and many more… The sounds of jazz return to downtown San Jose August 8-10. From Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, over 80,000 music lovers will converge on the heart of Silicon Valley to enjoy over 1,000 musicians performing three days of jazz, blues, salsa, Latin, R&B, electronica and many other forms of contemporary music.
As you'll see, this year's line-up is shaping up to be one of the most exciting festivals yet, with over 1000 artists from around the globe converging on San Jose for a weekend of fantastic musical diversity, tradition, and innovation.
With more than 80 performances on 10 different stages in downtown San Jose, this year's festival encompasses a stunning array of local, national, and international talent. The diversity of sounds and styles — everything from R&B to salsa to straight-ahead jazz — practically guarantees that you'll be humming along with an old favorite one minute and dancing to a brand new groove the next.
Jazz is the basis for most of the popular music of today, and the Comcast San Jose Jazz Festival showcases that breadth. This year's line-up includes national celebrities like David Sanborn and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, outstanding Bay Area talents like Gail Dobson and Dayna Stephens, and some of the hottest Latin jazz and salsa artists on the scene today, as well as international artists from India (Zakir Hussain), Egypt, England, Hungary, Cuba (Yosvany Terry), and Brazil (Chico Pinheiro).
Like the tradition of innovation here in Silicon Valley, jazz composition and performance continue to evolve and change. During the three days of this year's festival, we promise that the cravings of even the most diverse music lover will be satisfied.

About Spanish Harlem Orchestra:
Since their arrival in 2000, Spanish Harlem Orchestra has established itself as a standard bearer of contemporary Latin music. Our music style is the original sound of New York old school "Salsa dura" (heavy salsa) that was played in the early years by our pioneers, says Oscar. "That sound has been lost and we want to keep it alive while educating the new generations (and music lovers in general) on the true musical roots of our culture." Oscar adds, we've brought back the essence of what makes this music great and are keeping hte salsa spirit alive in our recordings and shows.
