About Los Cochinos:

Having come from a musical family, the brothers started playing music together in the early 80’s. They continued on their musical journey and were later discovered by Victor Pamiroyan, manager of Latin legend Pete Escovedo, who recognized Los Cochinos as an up and coming band that is well on its way tosuccess in the Latin rock music scene.
\
Ron Portillo’s talented hands create the Latin flavored songs on the keyboard and Alfornso creates the melodies on his guitar with feeling and passion. Together, they create a special sound that has been compared to the early sound of Santana, Malo and other Latin Rock style bands.

Live Salsa Music Sundays at Jelly’s!
Sunday, February 22, 2009
Jelly’s A DANCE CAFE
Doors open at 4:30, Band starts at 5:00 - 9:00pm
Cover $10.00 / Admission 21+
About Orquesta la Moderna:
From the first note, you’ll want to jump out of your seat. Orquesta La Moderna Tradición transports you to an era of sensual danzones and swinging cha-chas — the music of the Havana social clubs of the 1950s. The only band in the United States that plays this type of danzón and cuban music, the 12-piece ensemble captures the romance and style of a memorable era in Cuban dance music, with a special focus on danzon.
Violins and flutes weave lilting melodies against the backdrop of driving Afro-Cuban rhythms. The orchestra’s repertoire ranges from traditional ballads to the latest salsa and timba grooves with surprising twists: you should hear their spin on the old church tune “Golden Slippers.” As one critic put it: “Imagine a blend of Tito Puente and a tango, and you’ll begin to get an idea of the power and beauty of this music.”
Orquesta La Moderna Tradición has performed at some of the most prestigious festivals and venues in the United States, including Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing, San Francisco Jazz Festival, and the Smithsonian Institution — their tours have taken them from Alaska to El Paso and abroad. Their two recordings, “Danzonemos” and “Goza Conmigo”, illustrate the breadth of their talent. Listen to some samples of their music.
