About Orquesta America:

After many years of recording and performing with some of the best Latin bands on the West Coast, Eric Rangel decided to venture out and in May 1997 he started Orquesta America.

He has assembled some of the Bay Area's finest musical talent.

His list of musicians are second to none, with vocalists such as Cuba's own Ramon "Monchy" Esteves with over 100 recordings under his belt, also brother (recording artist) Rick Rangel better known for his work with classic Charanga bands such as Tipica Cienfuegos & Orquesta Batachanga.

Tres Hombres's unique coastal Mexican cuisine reminiscent of being on the beach in Baja or the Yucatan, with flavors from all over Latin America. So for the avid salsa dancer in the Bay Area, Allegro is a great place to practice and see lots of other salsa dancers practicing as well.  Allegro has one main ballroom and two smaller studios with mirrors.  In the two smaller rooms is where you will find salsa dancers practicing their turns, spins and styling.  In the main ballroom is where you will find all levels of dancers moving to the beats.   The music is just by DJ, and there is no alchohol.  So people are here for one reason and one reason only….to salsa!!

Carnaval 2008 Sunday May 24th & 25th

It's time for one of the city's most spectacular traditions! Carnaval San Francisco showcases the very best of Latin American and Caribbean cultures and traditions with a diverse array of food, music, dance and artistry.
The Festival draws hundreds of thousands of people for two days of dancing Salsa, Samba, Reggae, Tango, Hip- Hop, Merengue, Calypso, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbia, and Mambo into the evening. Food vendors offer traditional delicacies, while others sell crafts native to the Carnaval countries of their heritage. Giant stages sparkle with continuous entertainment throughout the day.
On Sunday morning, May 25, the Carnaval Grand Parade starts at 9:30am. It begins on the corner of 24th and Bryant streets, where it will proceed west to Mission Street. From there, the parade heads north on Mission down to 17th Street, where it will turn east and flow into the festival area.
